What is your name?
Where do you work?
What do you do?
I’m an activation manager which essentially means I plan and buy digital media on behalf of my clients.
How did you end up in your current position/career?
I started out at a non-profit and was asked to look after some of their marketing. I got hooked and decided to join an agency so I could be exposed to more channels and platforms.
Favourite part of your job?
It’s constantly changing and evolving as technology evolves and consumers needs and expectations shift. How I worked only two years ago feels very different to how I currently work and think about digital marketing.
What’s a typical workday or week look like for you?
Catching up with clients for work in progress meetings to talk through upcoming campaigns and projects. Meeting with publishers and vendors to ensure we’re securing the best rates and utilising platforms with our clients business goals in mind.
One piece of advice for someone wanting to break into the same profession
Go for it! It’s a growing profession and the skill sets developed can be applied to many businesses. I started with hardly any experience or a relevant degree.
One piece of advice you would give to yourself as an 18-year old today?
Ask lots of questions! Don’t be intimidated by your colleagues, clients or brands.
